That concludes the two part tutorial series! Now go forth and create cities :P

Hey! I just put my hands on blender after a couple of years of surface-modeling (for industrial design) so I decided to follow your tutorial and this is what I came up with:

The rain is shopped, I checked your tutorial on that topic but when I saw the node editor my mind blowed so I decided to fake it.

thanks for helping all the people like me out there!

    hi andrew!

good rendering. especially if you take into account you did not use ao and could not use gi.

just one advice: put the camera straight next time and use camera shift. thats at least the way architects would do it. (straight buildings should be represented by straight lines).

    Hey

Sweet tutorial!!!! I noticed in the final render that the lights on the backside of the building actually show through after you apply the glare effect, why is that and how do you stop it?

    Hi Andrew,

Thanks for this tutorial and all the others you’ve been putting up for free. I appreciate the immense benefit you’ve given many people and again, thanks.

I have a problem with the node editor. Following the High Rise Rendering tutorial, when I reach the part at about 18:50 or 19:00 minutes, you show opening the node editor, adding a new node, then from the Render Layer drop down, you select “Lights”. When I select the Render Layer drop down, the only option available is “Render Layer”. I’m using 2.5 Beta, I have next to no Node Editing or Compositing experience, so there are many basics that could be interfering. If you can help, thanks and if not, that’s ok too. You’ve been an amazingly generous benefactor to the Blender community anyway.

    Mike

Awesome tutorial, I liked it very much.
    I made this with it:
a 15 floor highraise with every single room different from each other (obviously low graphics inside, I don’t have enough power on my pc to fill it with good looking stuff :D )
So yeah, this is it… hope you will enjoy it!

Anyone else having problems keeping Blender from crashing? I haven’t had much trouble with it in the past but this project pushed it over the edge.
    I’m running 2.5.7 r36189

    Thanks

I think it has something to do with the arrays.

    Wow $282,900 for 1 apartment.
The view is nice but that’s high. And tiny rooms. :-)

    Thanks for sharing Joe.

BTW, I updated Blender to the newest version and no more crashes.
