Quick Tip: How to Create a Turntable Animation

Rendering a turntable of your model is the best way to show people all the little details that they would never see from a still image alone. It gives them a feel for the model as a whole, as opposed to a flat, static render from a single camera angle. There are essentially two methods of creating turntable animations:

  1. Turn the model - the camera and lights are stationary while the model itself rotates 360 degrees.
  2. Turn the camera - the model stays still and the camera moves around it.

The only difference between the two is that by turning the camera, the lighting will stay consistent. I personally prefer the lighting to shift around the model as I think it shows off the shape better, so that's what you'll discover in this tutorial.
