Top 20 Blender Artworks from 2013

Wooooo it’s a new year, which means it’s time for another BLENDER ART RECAP!

By my counts there has been a 26% increase in the quantity of Blender art from the last year (124 pages in the finished projects gallery in 2013, versus the 92 from 2012). Which means we’re either gaining users or increasing the quantity of renders we post…

Either way, I can say with certainty that the quality of artwork from 2013 is the best we’ve seen so far.

So here they are, the Top 20 Blender Artworks from 2013 (as decided by me):

A big kudos and congrats to everyone featured in the list! In my eyes, you’re the cream of the crop.

A truly fantastic year of artwork from the Blender community. Definitely some of the best artwork ever created by the community.

And I’m sure the artwork from 2014 will be even more impressive. Looking forward to another great year!

  • http://www.sevensheaven.nl/ Metin Seven

I see 20 very impressive realistic artworks, but I personally miss daring, refreshing 3D style experiments, such as dynamic Freestyle artwork and artistic low-poly artwork. I’d call this Andrew Price’s Impressive Realism Top 20.

I can not sit here looking at number 7 being 7. It’s by far the most professional work, It should at least be in the top 3.

    • Hamish Mclaggan

true you need extra points for a creative story/theme incorporated, like brushes are very nice, better than i could ever do, but it just shows off one creative skill.
Nonetheless thank you Andrew for compiling a great list

  • josephfarrar

    I don’t like # 17 that much

  • martin_lindelof

Not done in Cycles, rendered with Cycles done in Blender. Lots and lots of texturing skills and modelling. 3-2-1 should swap place with 5-6-7. Just look at that lighting in the Zeppelin pic, and the modeling.

  • Someone

All these pieces were done in Cycles is there a secret there ?

    • yaang

some of them were rendered with octane

    • Someone

      what octane is?

      • Kramon

        other rendering engine.

  • raitoringo

    Fantastic works!

It sure was a cool year Blender wise, it is getting better and better.
I actually think there must be more people interested in Blender, it has a dramatically improved in public perception as to what it really is capable of, due to all the great works out there, Tears of Steel, Blender Guru, Blender Cookie, Caminandes , etc. which I think makes people curious at least, some must be taking it seriously enough to start learning it.
Definitely one of my highlights of 2013 was the Architecture Academy, thanks Andrew, eagerly awaiting AA 1.5 in April!
