Pablo Vazquez is a bit of a machine.

If you don’t know him by name, you’ve almost certainly seen his work.

Pablo has been using Blender for 12 years and has been involved in, SintelYo Frankie and Cosmos Laundromat.

He also made the cover for 3D World Mag

He also made the cover for 3D World Mag

Most recently he’s also started his own career in film making, producing two beautiful shorts, Caminandes and Caminandes: Gran Dillamma (my go-to movie for showing someone what Blender is capable of).

And as if that wasn’t enough he also “dabbles” in web development, creating two very popular Blender sites: blender.today and PasteAll.org.

Oh and he’s also a blender developer for an extremely popular addon called the Amaranth toolset

Pablo is one of those artists you hate for being way too skilled in so many areas!

I’ve looked up to Pablo ever since seeing his carrot image circa 2004:

Yep, he made the splash screen for Blender after being a user for only about a year

So it goes without saying that I was super psyched to finally chat with him for this podcast, and pick his brain about how he does it.

In this episode we talk about:

  • Some of the biggest myths and wastes of time when learning Blender
  • Whether it’s better to be a jack-of-all-trades or become specialized in one area
  • Some side hobbies that will help you in Blender
  • Advice for making your own short film

Plus Q&A from the Twitterverse, answering questions like:

  • How can I get past the fear of how much there is to learn in Blender?
  • How can I learn Blender if I don’t have any free time?

If you’re new to Blender, or if you’ve been using it for a while and feel stuck, this episode is for you. Lots of great advice that will help you through slumps in the future.
