It’s been over a month since the last competition, so I think it’s time for another…
Theme
The theme is “Saying Goodbye”.
You are free to interpret that however you wish. Go nuts! There is no right or wrong.
Oh and since people have asked, I am not leaving! I didn’t intend for the theme to be taken that way. I honestly just thought it would make an interesting topic. Blender Guru will continue!

Any tutorials for how to do a glove texture? I am a big amateur in the Blender world so I hope I will learn some new stuff in this competition!
Why isn’t “The Wow Factor” a prize?
Hi I have a stupid question.
I just traded in my old laptop for a new, but smaller Alienware laptop which happens to have no num-pad buttons. Is there a shortcut I can use, or do I have to keep going and clicking “View”?
Thanks
Garrett
go to settings (ctrl+alt+U), Input, on the left side click emulate numpad
thats it
You could try using the fn key on your laptop and look for blue numbers on your laptop
in the user-prefference you can change the hotkeys as you wish.
I would like to do a re-interpretation from a scene of a movie, is that allowed?
Well, it would be best to be original, but it’s technically allowed if you make it completely from scratch in Blender.
Sure. You’ll probably lose points for creativity, but if it’s done artistically enough I don’t see why you couldn’t win
I think I’ll enter the competition this time, I’m in big need to make and finish a project, if at least a little one.
Also, I love how evocative the theme is, thanks Andrew!
im excited – ive many ideas in mind!!
is this for this year or last year?
I can’t tell
It’s this year, so you only have just under a month.
I figured I’d wait till the next competition because I actually captured an image like this before from an animation.Same theme but not done for this competition so I can’t enter it unfortunately.
But I’d like to share it anyway if anyone would like to check it out here http://azorea.deviantart.com/art/Dark-Road-288287214
It’s about growing up, moving on to something new, and forgetting the dreary past.
Good luck to everyone! I can’t wait to see the submissions and winners!!
Looks really nice. There’s probably a bit too much post-pro for my liking but I like the theme
I want to participate but have no idea what to do
mmm i think this question has its own answer in the competition rules, but can i use the blender addons like the ant landscape, i know is third party, but already in blender trunk so i dont know if it is covered or not.
please ! I have one question : I’ve already created some characters before the competition and I want to know if i can use them in this competition .
Earlier in the comments someone also asked that and Andrew said no. The idea of the competition is that everyone participating creates something entirely new in the allotted time. So, if you want to use those characters, for the competition you’d have to remake them.
Andrew: “The reason I’m against pre-made content is that it gives people a head start. The idea is to create an entire image from scratch in a set time frame.
So would have to ask that you re-make your character.
Thanks for your honesty
” (Andrew Price, <<Older comments, 7-8 Feb 2012)
thanks Marius for the answer. I think i will follow Andrew’s advice and I will search an new idea instead of remake my character.
Pleasure! All the best for the competition! (^v^)
My project will be great =) A lot of work !
Are textures for CG Textures allowed?
From CG Textures*
compositing it´s allowed?
I just finished a project a couple of days ago, is it ok to submit it to the competition?
Blenderartists.org hates me for some reason. I’ve tried registering with them no less than six different times and never recieve my activation email.
However, as I really want to enter this competition, So, I’m making my posting here instead. My entry is here: http://www.pasteall.org/pic/28514
Sorry about this, but I went back (after getting some feedback from a few friends) and tweaked some of the colours. Here’s the newest, and last, version of my entry. http://fav.me/d4syg7w
The weirdest thing is that I’ve got the activation e-mail and I’ve registered but I can’t post anything. HELP!
can i render-out multiple separate images and put them together in gimp because my comp does not have the rendering power to render them together.
Thanks in advance.
Hello Andrew, I know this is an unorthodox way of submitting an entry but my posts on Blender Artists don’t seem to appear. I don’t have much time before the deadline passes and this seems to be the only place where my posts do appear so here is my entry:

Sorry for troubling you.
Thanks A Lot.
I have a problem, i have put over 150 hours of work into my final piece, and i have the file ready to use, but my workstation blew up and is still in for repairs, my backup computer cant render the scene in time, would i be aloud to render a much lower res one for submission and then let it render all day tomorrow for the full HD one?
looking at it again that still wouldnt be enough time, its going to take at LEAST 48 hours to render on this little computer.. i guess this is an experience ill learn from.. never forget to do all renders before the computer blows up… well ill join you for the next compition, good luck everyone who got theres finished on time.
Hello andrew, i don’t know where i can post my project, so i give you the link here.

Even though I know what I want my entry to look like, I don’t know very much on how to make some of the more detailed parts. But I will be trying to do the best I can. If anyone has any helpful tips or helpful links/information then that would be great. Thanks. And I can’t wait to see the entries.
I really wanted to participate in this but did not get to.
PLEASE give us the topic for the next contest when you announce the winner tomorrow.
