    Hey Andrew,
I had a suggestion concerning the competition page. The idea of possibly an embedded timer that counts down might give the page a nice edge. Nothing obnoxious of course, but something the complements the theme and blends in slightly. It’s completely up to you. Just thought I’d through the idea out there. If I have time, I’ll try and post a schematic here. No guarantees though. :)
    Thanks,

  • Roselene

Hi Andrew, I have entered my image in the Christmas competition. I am not able to send in the .blend file since it is more than 30MB. How do I submit the .blend file.

    • Psi-Lent Rain

Roselene, as far as I know, only the winners will be required to submit the .blend, and Andrew will request it by email.

  • hene

Why can’t I send anythig to that thread. I have tried to send my picture twice. The site says massage sent but i can’t find them anywhere.

Darn. Just saw this adverted on Facebook. Not much time to create anything, and I’m already busy. But maybe I’ll give it a shot anyway.

I found this nice image of snow covered trees on the wikimedia commons, in the public domain, I edited with Gimp and placed it on a plane to make up the background of my scene ( kind of like what was done in the slum competition 1st place entry), is this okay in this competition?

    Thank you for your time.

  • Owldude

Can we submit more than one entry?

    • timothy

no ,andrew already stated only one per person

  • wycky

in cycles is problem witch particles (hair) so I have one question – can I render one image in blender internal and photoshoped it to the other image rendered in cycles?

    (sorry for my English)

is the kindle fire under androïd? or something were yo can have all the androïd apps?

    • Tyler

The Kindle Fire is running Android 2.3 Gingerbread, but it is so customized you would never be able to tell. Also, although (I think) you can side-load Android apps, you can only download apps from Amazon’s Appstore. (No Android Market.)

  • Largo

Andrew, you should get Apple and Amazon involved in this. They shouhld be paying you for the publicity they’re getting, not the other way around!

    • Largo

I’m sorry, I have a little question. You said it has to be my work, but what about small things, like the font on the image? It’s not really that important to the image, but it’s not my work either.
Thanks for everything! And the fishes.

  • Tyler

I’m also curious about the use of background images. I would like to have a fire in the scene, but Cycles can’t do that. Could a render it in BI and then map it to an emission plane in Cycles?

    • timothy

      My thought exactly

    • A_Nony_Mus

First off: you are rendering it in blender, so it is okay.
second off: Andrew already said that you are allowed to use background images anyway.

  • Craig Burr

Is this open to all countries? I am in the UK so just wondering. Also how are the winners selected?

  • timothy

Is it OK if you render something in the blender internal rendering engine (smoke and fire)
and the rest of the scene in cycles then put them together in Photoshop ?

    • Jk’

      I have the same doubt

    • Gary

      @ Timothy.
As Andrew stated above. External rendering is allowed and minor post processing with photoshop is ok. Go For Gold and GL :)

    • niverik2k

why use photoshop, when you can put it together in Blender’s Compositor?

  • Henri Plumb

First time in one of these competitions hopefully I’ll come up with something good
